"There is no need to defer to some spiritual authority, your own body-mind and its inherent limitations is the means of truth revelation and the catalyst for the expression of that truth" This is a book about responsibility for your own liberation. This book is a transmission about self-realization, an expression that confronts the limitation of many popular ideas about spirituality. Todd writes not only about awakening itself but the pitfalls along the way. The book consists of essays speaking to issues such as consciousness, sexual expression, spiritual power, spiritual slavery and other poignant spiritual questions. It is about freedom from the ideologies and theories that are supposed to liberate you but instead create new chains. This is not about learning some technique or practicing some ritual and trying to have spiritual experiences that will then convince you that you are on the right path or trying to be good or pure enough to be spiritual. People have been doing that for thousands of years and in thousands of forms and it doesn't awaken people or at best very few in all of history. That kind of spirituality fragments people because they reject the aspects of themselves that don't fit the idealistic model. You can't wake up to who you are if you are rejecting aspects of yourself that you judge to be defective. This is not about changing yourself to become more spiritual. This is about direct inquiry into your own being and recognizing the source of that being and then recognizing that you are this source personally. This is not an experience that a person generates through effort it is simply abiding as your own nature. You will then express your nature spontaneously with out the need for any belief of ideology. The expression of your nature is truth. It is everybody's birthright. |
